What should I expect during a lead inspection?

A lead inspection consists of a visual inspection and dust wipe sampling.  For the visual inspection, inspectors are required to check for chipping, peeling, cracking, and/or bubbling paint.  A dust wipe sampling consists of collecting dust wipe samples from windowsills and floors to test for lead paintdust.

How can I prepare for a lead inspection?

To ensure a smooth and timely certification process we recommend scheduling the inspection once the unit is ready for new tenants to move in (post any repairs / touch ups/ cleaning).  Our inspectors look for chipped and /or peeling paint as well as paint dust on floors and around windowsills and may not be able to provide a certificate if such conditions re found.  In this cases, we would need to schedule a re-inspection at an additional cost.
