The Hernando Board of Aldermen approved a contract with an AI firm at their September 15 meeting that will create a 24/7 chat-bot to address citizen questions and public works requests and allow residents to contact needed departments after hours.

“We’ve taken every complaint that we have gotten from citizens,” Public Works director Stephen Hodges said. “And we have tailor-fit this AI program for the city of Hernando. It is tailored to what we need to do and what our citizens want. In the process of putting this together, I was amazed at what it can and will do for us in the future. This is going to be a phased approach for us to get in the door and get it moving.”

Polimorphic, the company selected to install the system, works with city, county, and state-level governments to develop a one-stop system that allows residents to reach departments quicker. Polimorphic and the city of Hernando began talking after Hodges approached them about a streamlined solution for work orders  that would ensure resident requests are answered and fulfilled.
